The island countertop is in and I’ll finally let you see the color of the cabinets. It’s Sherwin Williams “Summit Grey”. It obviously won’t look finished until the doors are on the cabinets but every step in the right direction is exciting progress. It felt like Christmas– waiting for them to arrive to install the countertop this morning. The color is Andino white with a leather texture finish. It’s honed with a bumpy texture so you don’t ever look across the entire island and see a glare or streaks.
I have to wait until Wednesday for the plumber to come hook up all the faucets and dishwashers AND for the countertop guys to come install the countertops in the other areas of the kitchen…of course I wanted to see this one in place before I gave the “go ahead” on the other one because it’s a different color. That’s how I roll. I can’t wait for the stovetop countertops to be installed because then we can put in the backsplash tile! Woohoo. Lots of exciting parts happening now — this is the fun part!

Your kitchen is looking great, I can’t wait to see it progress in the next few weeks! I’m glad your back is feeling better, it’s hard to stay quiet when you’re so used to being so active and involved!

Pretty granite, smart move on the texture. I had no idea that there are different texture/finishes for that! I have an odd, L-shaped piece of what I *think* is granite for the Tiny Home I’m building, but it’s smooth. Oh well, not nearly as much to clean as your kitchen.
Love the ceilings, by the way. If you don’t mind, what is the wood up there within the boxes? I like the look!
Oh, and I tried to email you a couple days ago to discuss possibly hiring you to help me later this year, but the email came back as undeliverable. I am not sure how to contact you. 🙂
I feel impowered now that I’ve gone through your blog and read up on your builds and (especially) the builds of your clients. It’s a rare thing to be able to convey a vision and skill-set, and you are managing to do it from afar! I think I might need some of that magic too, LOL.

I can’t wait to see the end result! Just a question about your cabinetry painting throughout the house…do you have them sprayed or are they hand painted? I have to tell you I am so in awe of what you and other ladies on here are achieving. I can’t wait to build my new home one day and give it a crack at building stuff myself 🙂

Amazing !!!!
One question….do you end up painting the inside of the cabinets or leave them bare?
Michelle says
Gorgous!!!! Gorgous !!!!

Love the cabinet color choice and the granite choice. We went with River White which is real close to your choice. I just love how light and clean it looks! Great job…

Soooo loving it so far! I hope you pick the dark grey for the wall color! I love that you choose 2 different counter tops! Great idea!

Hello Sandra. My name is Terry Byars. I am a pilot for US Airways and a real estate broker and investor on the side. I have always enjoyed using various saws and shop tools and have considered doing part time work with a trimming craftsman to learn the skill. With two small children, however, that isn’t really a reality.
So you can imagine, I was ecstatic to find your website. It all started with “The closet that Sandra built” on YouTube. I have a lot of time devoted to navigating your impressive website and impressive gift. Just wanted to thank you for sharing and because of you, I have found MDF and made an attempt to take on my first of many projects (dressed up my front and back door entrances in similar fashion with your added door casing and trim). I made a cool time lapse video with my GoPro and had a huge response from my friends and family on FB. Thanks again and keep up the great work. Your kitchen is looking awesome by the way!
