So I showed you my laundry room plans yesterday and told you that I had ordered my sink and faucet and was just waiting for them to arrive. Well my faucet arrived yesterday evening and it is beautiful. The nozzle pulls out so I can easily bathe Brody. Yeah!
It’s a Kraus faucet in chome. I bought mine from Amazon but found it cheaper on Overstock last night when looking for … I’m getting ahead of myself.
So, I’m waiting on my SINK to get started building this entire side of my laundry room.
After I opened and admired the faucet, I went online to see when my sink would be arriving. It hadn’t even shipped yet! Darn – diggity darn! And because I find “shipping SOON” too vague for my timeline, I canceled the sink order and started looking for other options.
I really like the first sink I ordered. The shape was right and it was a black granite (like) material so wouldn’t scratch or show scratches easily. Which is important because Brody has sharp nails. Anyway… While searching for the same sink elsewhere that might be shipped asap — or found locally, I could not, for the life of me, find it.
I’m going to go with stainless steal and put a silicone mat in it for Brody’s bath. OH well. The great thing? I found a sink that is just as deep (9″) but a couple inches narrower so I won’t have to build such a wide cabinet which will help with the rest of the plan. (I was pushing it to fit the laundry baskets I bought into the drawers I planned.)
So it turned out for the best in the end. I found the best sink at the best price at Overstock. While browsing that site, I spotted my exact faucet for $20 less. And then the same sink with an added under counter soap dispenser for the exact price I paid at Amazon. Dang! I’m not returning mine and don’t even want the under cabinet soap dispenser but many of you mentioned it in your suggestions on facebook for Dream Laundry Room design elements so it caught my attention. And then I found TONS of really cool, pullout sprayer faucets with soap dispensers AND without for really good prices. And they were the style I wanted in the first place but there were like $300-$400 and I was so not paying that.
I’m still not returning what I got because it’s too much a pain but I might use it upstairs and get a new one for the laundry room!
So here is the low down of my choices:
- The sink I just ordered.
- The original faucet I’m using elsewhere in the house.
- The faucet I might choose.
- The other faucet I might choose from.
I like them both but I’m leaning towards #4. I like the chrome pullout chord over the black one. I’m kind of excited that my sink didn’t work out. Funny how that works out sometimes.

Quick question – does Brody freak out w/strange noises? I ask because I’ve used those pull out types w/the springs and they make a noise pulling out & then going back in. ~ Dee

Well he does NOT like the vacuum but he’ll have to deal with the faucet because it’s a pain to try and rinse him with a cup. 🙂

Great plans, can’t wait to see what you finally pick! Thanks for sharing your process of finding the sink and faucet- I was surprised how much time it took to get it right. We got our faucet at Home Depot because we were not familiar with the Kraus brand. Save the $$ and get it on Overstock! We got the #3 faucet and love it- it feels well made and sturdy. I wanted to share one thing I did not expect: the cross bar that holds the spray head does not rotate out of the way if you wanted to use the sprayer hose. We have not had our installed long and maybe the hose will soften up with use but for now the metal cross bar easily follows the spray head and hose around. For our kitchen sink it works fine- it was actually bought it for our utility sink that is (still) not done.

Now how did I sense something like this was going on? Yesterday when you told us you would be working on your cabinet doors, and mentioned how you could live without anyone elses opinions on the subject, I wrote a comment. After reading my comment several times, I thought “Hmmm, I wonder if Sandra might take my comment as being “snarky” (would truly never be) because she is probably tired from her day of woodworking. So I deleted the entire comment – rewrote something light and jovial, and then hit the “Post Comment” button, and then that refused to work,. Maybe just as well, eh?

As someone who wanted and now has an under-counter soap dispenser in my kitchen, I’d never get one again. I had to replace it once in a relatively short period of time. I can’t remember what broke, but it was cheaper to replace the entire assembly than to replace the broken part. Also, it sits empty most of the time with a bottle of dish soap next to it. Not to mention it’s way too easy to overfill (making a mess) because you can’t see when it’s getting close to full. It’s one of those things that sounds good on paper, but is much less than perfect in the execution.

Like they say… Everything happens for a reason! Perhaps it’s that the stainless steel sink will look pretty cool in your laundry room with that new faucet. I can’t wait to see it finished!

Isn’t it great when everything works out in the end? 🙂 On a somewhat related note, your post made me wonder if you’ve ever seen a bathtub faucet with an incorporated pull-out handheld sprayer? Our house has two full baths. The tub in our two year old’s bath is small and has shower doors which makes it hard to give her a bath in there. Our master bath has a walk in shower and a separate nice big soaking tub, but the wide tiled ledge at the side of the tub makes it hard to lean over and wash her hair. It has a roman type faucet with separate hot and cold handles, and your post made me think that a faucet with an incorporated sprayer would be the best solution but I haven’t seen anything like that for a tub, only for a sink. I’ve seen some that have the sprayer separate, but I really don’t want to have to mess with all that. Would it be weird to put a kitchen faucet with an incorporated sprayer on a bathtub? I’m sure it will be at least a few years yet before she can wash her long hair by herself.
