Built-in bookcase progress…

Living Room

Hi guys!  Remember on Monday when Madison and I modeled our Duluth duds and I told you about the built-in bookcase we were going to build and I thought we’d have it done by today?  Well we didn’t get it finished but we did make some good progress and got the base built, including the doors which is probably the hardest part, so I feel pretty happy with our week and wanted to share our progress.

Built-in bookcase progress...

I drew up some really detailed plans including a cut list to make it easy for Madison to understand my intentions for how this build was ’bout to go down.  She was not the least bit interested in understanding the logistics of “what, when and why” but she did love drilling pocket holes!

We built the two base carcasses quickly and set them in place to make sure we built them the right size…which we did!

Built-in bookcase progress...

We had some REALLY cold days this week  and Madison had on at least 3 layers at all times and was still cold!  I, on the other hand, always get super hot when I’m working so we are quite a pair.  I started out in “winter” work clothes but ended up in a tank and light fabric overalls.  I could probably live in Iceland.

You may have figured out for what purpose I designed this base cabinet.  If you did, lock it up tight.  We’re trying to keep it a secret for the time being.  😉    We had to secure one of the “doors” from INSIDE the cabinet and it was Madison’s turn.  (I’d already been in there twice.)

Built-in bookcase progress...

I think we’ll be able to finish up the rest…soon.  I hate not meeting goals but they are so good for motivation.  Trying to finish this cabinet in one week pushed me to: 1.  work through a day of ridiculous allergies AND 2.  dig back into it after a 4 hour dentist appointment.

Hard core devotion!

So even if it takes us longer than expected to get this thing built, it’s coming together and we’re learning, laughing and loving with just enough silly to keep it fun!

And we’ll leave you with this “super dorky thumbs up and wink” followed immediately by the cutest little grin ever … and a clue to the secret purpose of the completed base to our built-in.

See the finished bookcase with dog crate.

And check out Madison and I modeling our awesome Duluth wear!

I think I see the clue, but are we allowed to post a guess? Earlier in the post you say to keep it to ourselves. 🙂

If it’s not for the dod it’s a really small guest room.

I love that Madison is the ‘2nd’ girl on the job! I hope she is having as much fun working together as you most likely are.

I think it would make a great litter pan enclosure as well!
