“Trapped Soul” {Halloween Decoration}

All Posts, Halloween, Kids, Projects and Plans

   Here’s a quick, easy and totally cheep Halloween decoration.
trapped soul halloween mirror

This mirror was on clearance because of the crack but it has a nice frame so I bought it.  I decided to make a Halloween decoration out of it before I remove the mirror and use the frame for who knows what.

You can scrape the paint off with a glass scraper so you could use any mirror, you don’t have to buy a new one.  *Just make sure it’s a mirror you can take outside to paint.  I really don’t recommend using spray paint indoors!

Here’s what I did:

1.  I taped off the frame.
2.  Used an old T-shirt to roughly cut out the shape of a head.
{Think this trapped soul needs to see a dentist?  Whatever, I like the character!}
3.  Lay the head out on the mirror, put on vinyl gloves and place hands on mirror.

4.  Lightly spray paint over your “head” and hands {one at a time unless you have a helper}.

5.  Oops, I forgot I was going to make some drip marks under the crack.
a.  Scrape off the paint under the crack.
b.  Apply “drip” clings that I made out of hot glue {Uh huh}
c.  Put the “head” back in place
d.  Spray paint again over window cling “drips”

6.  Remove clings and “shirt head” and gloved hands {again} to reveal the poor trapped soul clawing to get out!

7.  Now all you have to do is remove tape and newspaper, clean off all the cobwebs because you started this project weeks ago and just came back to it and set this puppy up somewhere to creep out the chimney cleaners when they arrive.  {Ha ha.  Totally happened yesterday!}
